Last year when Gamers Elite was looking for games that were being released in 2018, Battalion 1944 was one of the games I ran into it. At that moment they had no real release date and didn’t know exactly what consoles it would be available on, but now we do!
Battalion 1944 looks like a REALLY fun game!
Here’s a little synopsis from their website:
“Battalion 1944 recaptures the core of classic multiplayer shooters and revives ‘old school’ FPS for the next generation. Focusing on 5v5 infantry based combat, where precise flick shots with your Kar98, covering fire with your Thompson and fluid player movement are key to clutching every round for your team. Band together and Fight with your team in the premiership of competitive WW2 FPS.
Battalion is currently in development alongside the community, reconstructing Unreal Engine 4 to reintroduce classic FPS quirks and create a modern shooter that feels like an old-school classic. This heart-thumping multiplayer experience is being crafted by designers who have grown up playing competitive Call of Duty, Enemy Territory, and Counter-Strike; alongside community feedback from professional FPS players and over 10,000 backers who have been shaped by the same gaming experience.
Battalion 1944 re surges old school FPS back into the modern gaming spotlight in our spiritual successor to the great multiplayer shooters of the past. In Battalion, it’s down to skilled soldiers like you to take down the enemy.”

When they announced this, they did so via this video:
The Early Access, which will start on Thursday, February 1st, will feature six different game modes in total, although those have yet to be revealed. Along with the announcement, the team has released a new trailer featuring gameplay from the upcoming title.
There will also be an Xbox One version of the game but that will come out much later on. While I most likely will wait to get it on Xbox One I definitely look forward to seeing PC players participating in the game!
