Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar is the second DLC for the game and, as the name suggests, it will provide us with Russian units and weapons. Having Russian units in Battlefield is a dream come true for some people, and I am sure that plenty of people are going to enjoy all that the DLC entails. Russia is one of the major factions that was missing in Battlefield 1, so having it here is definitely interesting. In the original trailer for Battlefield 1 the game there were all sorts of factions shown and mentioned, one of which was NOT Russia. But a lot of people were wondering and hoping if one of the DLCs would indeed have a Russian Faction. In fact, some were wondering if it even would be available because originally when asked, EA had said no, there would not be a Russian faction. Well, here it is. The Eastern Front. I posted these on another blog here. But here are the images again:
The release date is a bit unclear, although we can expect it at some point during the summer. Sometime during July-September, we will be able to play and enjoy this without a problem. The nice thing here is that if you purchased the season pass for the game, Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar will be shared for free around 2 weeks before release. This is obviously amazing and it shows how dedicated the Battlefield team really is! I personally think and have shared in a previous blog on this website, that they probably are not going to announce an official date until E3.
We can expect Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar to be showcased in some form at the EA Play event near E3, alongside other demos. Moreover, we can also expect a few more maps, more particularly a night time map that is set to release solely for the season pass owners. If you want to get this DLC as fast as possible and play it 2 weeks before release, you may want to acquire the Premium Pass. The Pass does cost $50, but you get all the premium content for free with it. Plus, you don’t just get the DLC guys. I mean this is EA and Battlefield we’re talking about. Season Pass holders always get extra stuff like double XP, more guns, more FREE maps besides the DLC and more. So its definitely worth it. From all the Battlefield games I have owned, I have always purchased the Season Pass and I always will because I know its worth it!
In case you want to try Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar early, you may be able to do that via the CTE system. It may be released towards June for testing, but if not, you will play it 2 weeks before anyone else via the Premium pass! Downloading the Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar will be easy. If you already have the premium pass, your console or PC will be notified of the download and they will start automatically. The same goes with Origin, which will automatically update your game when the DLC comes out.
There are not that many details about the Russian army, but we may have the hussars and it seems we will also have Russian female soldiers too. This will be a nice addition to the game. As always, we can expect around 4 new maps and the new weapons will surely be era-accurate. Many expect the Fedorov Avtomat to be a part of this (The Fedorov Avtomat (also anglicized as Federov, Russian: Автомат Фёдорова) or FA was an automatic rifle, designed by Vladimir Grigoryevich Fyodorov in 1915 and produced in the Russian Empire and later in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. A total of 3,200 Fedorov rifles were manufactured between 1915 and 1924 in the city of Kovrov; the vast majority of them were made after 1920. The weapon saw combat in World War I, but was used more substantially in the Russian Civil War and in the 1939–1940 Soviet-Finnish war.).
We may also have a new Behemoth as well as some new armored cars too, although this is speculation at this point. I definitely hope they include some Russian tanks because those tanks are BEASTS. Here are a few images of the Fedorov Avtomat just so you know what we’re talking about here.
Even if we don’t get this specific gun there are a whole slew of other handguns, rifles, machine guns, and support guns – as well as the Shashka. which is a Russian Sword used in World War 1 by the Russians that could be added to the game.
There’s definitely a lot of exciting stuff to be had with Battlefield 1 In The Name of the Tsar, so if you like Battlefield 1 and want more content, you may want to acquire the season pass to prepare. One thing is certain, there will be 2 major DLCs after this one too, so the Premium pass is a really good purchase at this point!
You can get the Deluxe edition on Xbox One, PlayStation or PC and this includes the base game as well as premium pass (physical edition).
