We’re talking about some of the scariest, creepiest, best horror games thatare out right now.

The Binding Of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac is an indie rogue-like video game designed by Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl, initially released in 2011 for Microsoft Windows; the game was later ported for OS X, and Linux operating systems. The game’s title and plot are inspired by the Biblical story of the Binding of Isaac: after Isaac’s mother receives a message from God demanding the life of her son as proof of her faith, Isaac flees into the monster-filled basement of their home, where he must fight to survive. Players control Isaac or one of six other unlockable characters through a procedural generated dungeon in a roguelike manner, fashioned after those of The Legend of Zelda, defeating monsters in real-time combat while collecting items and power-ups to defeat bosses and eventually Isaac’s mother.

Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2 builds upon cooperatively focused gameplay and Valve’s proprietary Source engine, the same game engine used in the original Left 4 Dead. Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, Left 4 Dead 2 focuses on four new Survivors, fighting against hordes of zombies, known as the Infected, who develop severe psychosis and act extremely aggressive. The Survivors must fight their way through five campaigns, interspersed with safe houses that act as checkpoints, with the goal of escape at each campaign’s finale. The gameplay is altered by the “AI Director 2.0”, which monitors the players’ performance and adjusts the scenario to provide a dynamic challenge. Other new features include new types of special infected and an arsenal of melee weapons.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Unlike Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, the gameplay emphasizes horror and exploration over action. The inventory uses a grid-based system with an initial capacity of 12 slots, but may be expanded several times over the course of the game. An item can occupy up to two spaces, and four items may be assigned to the D-pad. Item boxes found in save rooms may also be used to manage and store items for later use, and be retrieved from different item boxes. Items in the inventory can be used, examined, or combined with other items to increase their usefulness. Many of the game’s puzzles require that items be examined under certain conditions in order to reveal secrets. Tape recorders can be used to manually save the game’s progress, which depending on the given difficulty level, may require the use of a cassette tape. Videotapes are scattered for Ethan to find, which place the player in the perspective of a different character, oftentimes revealing plot information or clues needed to solve a puzzle. The PlayStation 4 version of the game is playable in virtual reality using the PlayStation VR headset, with the core gameplay mechanics remaining identical.

The Evil Within 2

Obviously this game is not out yet, but its supposed to be one of the best survival horror games of 2017, so its definitely one to consider getting. Mobius is a corporation with unknown motives. With the aim of bringing the world “peace and order”, Mobius created the STEM device, which connects human minds to an alternate dimension. In the aftermath of the first game’s event, Detective Sebastian Castellanos was dismissed from the police department, and his story was not trusted by anyone. Desperate to find leads, Sebastian becomes frustrated and falls back into drinking, until three years later, his former partner Juli Kidman returns to inform him that his daughter Lily, thought to be dead years ago, is still alive but was captured by Mobius as the test subject for Union, a STEM world created with Lily’s brain. Union, which is a reflection of Lily’s mind, is extremely unstable, and Sebastian must race against time to rescue her and unravel the conspiracies of Mobius before it collapses. Meanwhile, he must confront different killers who had made their mark in Union, and face his own personal fears and past traumas.

He heads out to the countryside, where he discovers that many of the survivors out there have converted to a religious cult called the Children of the Sun, who worship the Mother which is apparently the source of their immunity to the virus. In order to earn the cult’s trust and learn more about the immunity, Crane decides to assist the survivors. Eventually, one of the Faceless, the high-ranking members of the cult, approaches Crane and privately admits that their immunity is gained through a special elixir they had discovered, but like Antizin, it only suppresses the infection and does not fully cure it. The Faceless also reveal that they are working on a permanent cure, and promise that in exchange for his help, they will give Crane the cure to take back to Harran.

Friday The 13th: The Game

The game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game, pitting up to seven players controlling Camp Crystal Lake counselors against one player controlling Jason Voorhees. It is a semi-open world game, with players able to explore it further. The objective of playing as a counselor is to fill objectives (which are easier to fill when coordinating with other players) that will allow counselors to escape from the camp, or to survive until time runs out on the session, Jason may also be defeated with an “epic win condition” that requires both teamwork and planning, and is difficult to perform.[7] A player may also control Tommy Jarvis, who becomes playable when certain conditions are met.
