Today, I want to talk a little bit about options for an external hard drive for Xbox One. Before that though, a little backstory.
I remember when I had my Xbox 360. I think it came with 20 GB and I thought, oh, this will last me awhile. It filled up in a week! I then purchased an internal 500gb drive and even then after owning the 360 for a few years, I had to keep making the “keep or delete” decision.
Finally, when I got my Xbox One it came with a 500gb drive. I knew that while this was a good amount of space, the games that dev’s create today versus the ones on the 360 from years ago, simply were much larger than they ever were before.
Even by going now to my Xbox One games – if you look at games like Sonic its like 567mb lol. Look at Forza Horizon 3 its like 56 GBs...
Everywhere you look today you see Assassin’s Creed Origins. Ubi REALLY wants to make sure that this game is purchased by as many people as possible, and I don’t blame them. It takes a lot of money, heart and time to make a game like this so you want to make sure that YOU can make it as successful as you possibly can.
Beyond just ads on YouTube, Sponsored ads on Facebook, Articles in gamer magazines, etc Ubi has also created a Live Stream of their game. The Live stream for Assassin’s Creed Origins was almost 2 HOURS long! This is pretty much unheard of, but I get it, you want to really hype people up and get them to see that all of this marketing and hype that is being put out by the team is not just a bunch of bupkis...
The Overwatch event for Halloween is still going on, but in the meantime Blizzard has made a few changes and added an Overwatch Update for all platforms. While most of the update just adds a few changes to the game itself, there is also an adjustment to Mercy to further balance the character.
Following Mercy’s redevelopment in September, Blizzard is continuing to experiment with extra modifications to Mercy. With this brand-new patch, her Ultimate, Valkyrie, no longer impacts the cool-down of Resurrection. Rather, Valkyrie renders a 2nd charge of Resurrect, permitting her to possibly revive teammates back to back. This charge only lasts for the length of Valkyrie, and the end result is that she can use Resurrect fewer times than she could formerly.
So last night I still did not get the Xbox One update. I decided to go to my settings, device, and updates available. There it was just sitting there! According to Xbox the Xbox One update was very small, took about 15 minutes to download, apply and verify the update. Thankfully after the update and after the Xbox restarted it actually DID restart. No issues there!
If you have not received your update, check settings and updates, it should be sitting there like mine was!
I will say that I like the menu’s a lot more; its more convenient and quicker to see what you want to see. And it seems like my system is running faster since the Xbox One update.
However, and I don’t know if anyone else had issues, I also kept having a few bugs here and there...
Over the past few weeks Gamers Elite has written about a few new features that will start to appear on Xbox One. These features were only for insiders, but now these features will start to roll out today for everyone.
The update will now allow us to customize our home screens by letting us choose what we want to see when we boot the Xbox One up.
The update will also now allow you to have 40 pins to your dashboard area and we can now have a choice between a light and a high contrast “theme” for the entire interface.
The guide layout is also being updated which should make it easier for you to jump between your friends list, apps, games and return to the home screen.
Screen dimming is also a new feature and keeps your TV from screen ghosting...
Earlier this year at E3, Microsoft talked more about Crossplay and talked about if it would ever be a real thing regarding consoles. They did make Minecraft a Crossplay game, but other than that nothing was ever really said about any other games.
Recently, the Developer Black Riddles announced a really cool cel-shader game called Crazy Justice. They said that they will offer Xbox One and Nintendo Switch crossplay.
The game is no where done right now. in fact, its literally still trying to get funds for the game. But, right now it looks like a pretty neat game from what I have seen. They are doing a crowd funding project on FIG. They are trying to reach investments of $30,000 and right now they are doing pretty well – they have reached almost $28,000...
A lot of information, images and videos have been put out since the announcement of Need For Speed Payback, but we couldn’t really get a sense of what the back story was, because EA didn’t announce anything yet. Well, now they have.
We already knew that it was set in Fortune Valley, knew about a lot of the cars that were going to be in the game, etc. Now lets talk about the story, your crew, different ways to play and a few other tidbits of information.

While a majority of us Xbox One players do RSVP and buy games brand new, I wont sit here and say I’ve never bought a used game — because I certainly have. One of the biggest reasons I have bought a used game was because of the fact that they are cheaper. Another reason I may buy a game that is used is because it was on my list of a game I wanted (further down the line) but its still the same or about the same price as it came out. For example, Forza Motorsport 7. You can expect that this game will almost never be in a lull. Its a series that a lot of people enjoy and therefore the company will most likely keep the price upwards toward the release price, well, because they can.
Another older example is Call of Duty Black ops...
Cuphead has been featured at a few of the E3 events, but it was in 2017, that they finally announced that Cuphead would be coming to Xbox One and PC this year. Since its release people have been buying the heck out of it and having a love hate relationship with the game (it is a difficult game to play, super challenging indeed!).
“On the fictional Inkwell Isle, Cuphead and his brother Mugman are two fun-loving kids who live under the watchful eye of Elder Kettle. Against the elder’s warnings, the brothers wander into the Devil’s Casino run by King Dice. When the brothers go on a winning streak, the casino’s manager King Dice calls upon the Devil who raises the stakes. If Cuphead and Mugman can win another time, they would own the entire casino. If not, the Devil would have their souls...
