When my cousin and I first bought Destiny 2 we had questions and concerns. One of the things we wanted to know was if Destiny 2 would be having the Iron Banner. While it was assumed, no one really mentioned it… until today.
There WILL be a Destiny 2 Iron Banner event and although the name is the same, there are quite a few things that are different from its predecessor.
As per always, its a limited time event – it will be available on October 10th (YAY!).
How To Participate In The Destiny 2 Iron Banner
In order to play the Iron banner you have to access the tower. In order to access the tower you have to have completed the campaign. I know, I know. It sucks. Some of you still have not completed the campaign. Unfortunately, unless you grind the heck out of the game this weekend, you will not be able to play in the Iron Banner.
If you have beaten the campaign, you need to go to the tower and speak to Lord Saladin. Once you have spoken to him you can then enter in the iron banner via the crucible playlist. You can either play alone or with a fire team.
When The Destiny 2 Iron Banner Starts
Destiny 2’s first Iron Banner begins on October 10 at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET, as part of the weekly reset. It will run for the entire week, ending with the following weekly reset on October 17. This isn’t the only major thing opening up on October 10, as that’s the day the Prestige mode version of the Leviathan Raid unlocks.
So, What’s New In Destiny 2 Iron Banner?
The original Destiny, had Iron Banner set at 5vs5. But, Destiny 2 in Iron banner, as well as the other playlists, it will be 4vs4. According to Bungie the winning vs losing in the Iron banner on Destiny 2 has nothing to do with Light (power) and everything to do with your skill set. Therefore, if you are a good player and have a good team, you will have a better chance at winning.
Unlike in the first Destiny, the Iron Banner this time around is about winning Iron banner Engrams NOT bounties. You also get coins for each game you play – win or lose. Its just like the regular crucible playlist. If you win you get 2 or more tokens. If you lose, you only get 1 token.
What Can You Earn From Destiny 2 Iron Banner Engrams?
Once you get your Iron banner tokens you can turn them in for Engrams, which can then unlock gear, armor and weapons for your character.
