I had 4 goals last night while on my Xbox One.
– Complete my last bounty on IW – easy
– Download and play Star Wars Battlefront 2
– Download and play Fortnite Battle Royale For Xbox One
– Finally download and try Crossout
I completed the bounty first because I just wanted to get it the heck out of the way.
Next, I went ahead and downloaded all 3 games. Fortnite Battle Royale was the first that got downloaded so I decided to spend some time on it.
As a person that plays a lot of FPS I was really excited about Fortnite Battle Royale. But, make no mistake, this is not like any other FPS game out there. In fact its not even considered a FPS, its considered a Survival game. Aiming down the sights is more Halo than COD that’s for sure.
The very first thing I did was create a character, but apparently I didst do it right because I spawned out with someone completely different. Apparently I am still getting used to the game and it does have some sort of a learning curve ha. That’s okay though. WE like challenges!
As soon as I spawned out into the magic bus in the sky, it kept saying to jump. Jump where. How. Oh well. I jumped. You sort of sky dive out into the open sky where you can glide, gingerly move your character to and from and you can finally – when you get close enough, put a parachute out.
Upon landing, I was amazed at how big the damn game was. I mean, its huge. I landed by a outcrop next to a mountain so I decided to crawl up there knowing damn well I would probably get shot, but I was really curious as to just how big Fortnite Battle Royale was. All I can say is: WOW. There’s a little map on the screen with a few symbols. One lets you know how many people are in the game so far. The other, which I believe is a skull, lets you know how many people you killed.
You also have a health bar. There seems to be another bar above the health bar in Fortnite Battle Royale but honestly? I have no idea what that bar is for.
There is also this annoying purple storm – which you can visually see in the game, as well as on your Fortnite Battle Royale map. If you get into the eye of the storm it takes your health away. So its important that you keep your little character going on the opposite side of the eye of the storm, while also watching where you are running (I fell down a hill and died!) and watching out for enemies. Its a little chaotic until you get used to things, to say the least.
Each time you kill someone you get whatever they had in their “storage.” So if they had 5 guns, ammo for all the guns, bandages, health, etc – you get everything that essentially falls out of them when you kill them. I also found that there were little treasures throughout the map. It might be a chest with ammo or bandages, it could be a house where you find a shiny new purple aura where a machine gun is, or it could be something completely different.
The other part to Fortnite Battle Royale or even Fortnite on its own is that you can break down and collect materials. I am still trying to figure out how this works quite honestly. Sorry, but if you’re reading this guide to learn something, you probably wont! I am still pretty green at Fortnite Battle Royale myself.
Nontheless it is a very fun game and I will continue playing it for as long as I can!
If you have not tried out Fortnite Battle Royale already, you should!
Beware though, play legit – or get the ban. I don’t really know how you can cheat at this game to be honest, but according to Epic Games they have already banned thousands of players for cheating. Epic had said in an announcement on their blog:
“Addressing cheaters in Fortnite is the highest priority across Epic Games,” the company has explained in a new blog post detailing its approach to naughty ne’er do wells. “We are constantly working against both the cheaters themselves and the cheat providers. And it’s ongoing, we’re exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from Fortnite Battle Royale and the Epic ecosystem.”
They weren’t very specific as to how people were cheating or how they catch them in the act but somehow someway people are cheating and Epic Games is finding those cheaters and banning them for life. So. Just don’t do it.
Later today, Gamers Elite will write a little review blog on Star Wars Battlefront 2.
