Nintendo Switch – 2017 Games

Since the Nintendo Switch came out, a lot of people have made the jump to adding yet another console to their home. One of the biggest reasons I had not purchased one yet was because not a lot of games were available for it – ones that interested me anyway, so I figured I would wait a little bit. My cousin bought one as soon as they came out and although he has had a lot of fun playing the new Zelda game, he also told me last night he was bored. He also said that he hopes new games will be coming out soon because while he enjoys Zelda, playing the same game over and over again can get boring. I don’t blame you, little buddy! Thankfully, Nintendo Switch is putting out a ton of games in 2017 and beyond. The games are all in different categories too which is good because then there is something for everyone. Here are just a handful of the ones coming soon.

A.R.M.S

I wrote about this previously, you can read my article here. This is going to be released pretty darn soon – June 16th! It kind of reminds me of a colorful and kid-friendly version of Overwatch. Its a fighting game clearly, but it also looks like a lot of fun and not just the same old boring boxing games over and over again.

A.R.M.S can be purchased here on Nintendo Switch.

Cave Story

This very much reminds of the old 8bit Nintendo games from my past gaming experiences. Cave Story was actually intended as a free game – it came out a few years ago as a free game and was ported to many different platforms Nonetheless, this is a beautiful and fun game that draws inspiration from games like Castlevania and Metroid. If you like the old Pixelated games, you will probably feel right at home with this one. By the way, Cave Story will be released on June 20th.

Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is specifically for the Nintendo Switch and the Joy Cons dual wield feel. The first game was so popular why wouldn’t they do a second version?! This one will have all the perks of being available for a next-gen console – the game is really beautiful in terms of graphics, but also new characters, new weapons, new specials and new modes will be available. This one is going to be released on June 21st, 2017 so you still have time to pre-order it! Splatoon 2 has been in the bestselling games for the past 2 months, needless to say, I think a lot of people are excited for this one!

Redout

I have mentioned this game quite a few times on Gamers Elite. I love racing style games so this is definitely one I would be interested in! In this Nintendo Switch game, you play as a racer in the future. Its quite similar to Fast RMX or F-zero, but chances are Nintendo won’t be making any more F-zero games so this is your next best bet for a racing game. You have some really cool hover cars, going at blistering speeds and some of the most complicated tracks I have seen in awhile. Nintendo Switch is using the Unreal 4 engine on this game in particular which obviously takes it to new heights!

Fate/Extella The Umbral Star

if you like action hack and slash games and you like that whole anime feel to a game, this is the one for you. It stars the characters from Fate Universe, but it has a brand new story. In this Nintendo Switch game, you will be up against hundreds of different foes, the graphics are amazing, and to be honest, it reminds me a little bit of Dynasty Warriors meets Kingdom Hearts.

Sonic Mania

Yes. Sonic Mania! If you like the Sonic series, you should definitely like Sonic Mania for Nintendo Switch. This one will be released on August 15th, 2017. While the last Sonic game was released a few years ago it wasn’t exactly a good game, people are hoping that THIS is the one that will take the cake. Sonic has been released quite a few times and every single time fans of the Sonic Series are disappointed. People that have played the demo of this game were pleasantly surprised at just how good it was, how well the controls of the Nintendo Switch worked with the game, and how good the graphics were. If you want to give it a chance you can do so below.

Steamworld Dig 2

This actually reminds me a lot of Cave Story but this one is very different in terms of the graphics. If the Cave Story is pixelated, then this is the complete opposite. It still looks like a lot of fun though. This one will be available during the summer at some point!

Namco Museum

I love series like these. This one is obviously an arcade adventure. The Museum includes; Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and more. These games all have updated graphics, updated features, and updated specials – for example, you can actually use quick save restore points and there is a high ranking leader board that is globally available. This one has no set date or price just yet but rumors say you can expect to see it available in the summer – at some point. Also, don’t get this one confused with the others available for the PlayStation. This is a completely different Namco Museum!

Sine Mora EX

This is another one that looks like a lot of fun. I wish they made games like this for the Xbox One (totally jealous!). This one is actually considered a Shmup (Shoot ’em up (also known as shmup or STG) is a sub-genre of the shooter genre of video games. In a shoot ’em up, the player character engages in a lone assault, often in a spacecraft or aircraft, shooting large numbers of enemies while dodging their attacks. There is no consensus as to which design elements compose a shoot ’em up. Some restrict the definition to games featuring spacecraft and certain types of character movement; others allow a broader definition including characters on foot and a variety of perspectives. Shoot ’em ups call for fast reactions and for the player to memorize levels and enemy attack patterns. “Bullet hell” games feature overwhelming numbers of enemy projectiles.)

Not only does it look like a lot of fun, but I really like the almost gritty dark design that it offers. This is no Mario. This one is also supposed to be available in the summer of 2017, again no specific date or price is available, I just know that its for the Nintendo Switch and it looks pretty interesting.

Oceanhorn: Monster Of Uncharted Seas

You Zelda lovers should like this one. A lot of people are comparing this is a Zelda breath of The Wild game. Its classified as an action adventure game. This game was originally available on Mobile devices and slowly made its way to next-gen consoles and PC. Now its going to be available on Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking for a fix after beating Breath of The Wild, this just might be the one for you to consider. No release date on this one but it should be available sometime soon – June or July I’m guessing. I think it looks like a super cute game and a lot of fun.

This is not the end for Nintendo Switch Games. Its just the end of this article. For those of you that found a few games above that looked cool, fret not my friends, there are something like 40 other games coming out. A quick list:

Super Mario Odyssey has been delayed so hopefully its still coming out in 2017, but if not early 2018. Battle Chasers is also supposedly delayed until 2018, but it is supposed to come out in 2017 so I guess we will just have to wait and see!
